Heather Locklear ‘Cracks’ Jokes About ‘Melrose Place’ Skirts In Hilarious Interview

Heather Lock­lear had a sen­ti­men­tal walk down mem­o­ry lane when she reunit­ed with her for­mer Mel­rose Placeco-stars Court­ney Thorne-Smith, Daphne Zuni­ga, and Lau­ra Leighton. In a spe­cial two-part episode of their rewatch pod­cast, Still the Place, the actress — who is most known for her role as Aman­da Wood­ward on the pop­u­lar series — joined her for­mer cast­mates.

They shared mem­o­ries, laughed, and reflect­ed on their time togeth­er on set dur­ing the reunion. Lock­lear talked about her sig­na­ture look dur­ing the dis­cus­sion. The short skirts that became a dis­tinc­tive fea­ture of Aman­da Woodward’s appear­ance were part of her sophis­ti­cat­ed pro­fes­sion­al wardrobe.

Heather Locklear on her short skirts from the set of ‘Melrose Place’

Lock­lear joked about how short some of her skirts were dur­ing film­ing and acknowl­edged that she occa­sion­al­ly felt too exposed when sit­ting down. Although the out­fit con­tributed to her character’s self-assured and dom­i­nant demeanor, it also pre­sent­ed dif­fi­cul­ties. When her co-stars asked if she ever had wardrobe mis­takes, she laughed and brushed off the notion of wear­ing old granny under­wear under­neath.

Lock­lear liked her clothes from Mel­rose Place, even though they were some­times uncom­fort­able. After the pro­duc­tion, she actu­al­ly pre­served every­thing in her col­lec­tion, cling­ing to the items that typ­i­fied Aman­da Woodward’s style. Her daugh­ter, Ava Samb­o­ra, has worn some of those dress­es over the years.

Did Heather have a close relationship with the other cast in ‘Melrose Place?’

Although she was con­stant­ly focused on her work dur­ing the series, Lock­lear revealed that she main­tained close rela­tion­ships with her co-stars. One of her most notable friend­ships was with her co-star and ex-fiance, Jack Wag­n­er. She dat­ed Wag­n­er from 2007 to 2011, and despite their short engage­ment, they had a strong rela­tion­ship.

Lock­lear acknowl­edged that although she loved work­ing with the ensem­ble, she was fre­quent­ly dis­tract­ed by learn­ing lines and get­ting ready for her chal­leng­ing role. There was lit­tle oppor­tu­ni­ty for close friend­ships on set because of the fast-paced nature of record­ing 30-episode sea­sons.
