“Carnie Wilson Struck by Severe Post-Surgery Complications, Hospitalized”

Singer Carnie Wil­son faced a fright­en­ing health set­back after under­go­ing lap-band removal surgery. The 57-year-old Wil­son Phillips star revealed in a can­did Insta­gram video that she had been hos­pi­tal­ized due to com­pli­ca­tions but is now recov­er­ing.

Carnie Wil­son explained that while the surgery itself was suc­cess­ful, her recov­ery quick­ly became more dif­fi­cult. She expe­ri­enced severe swelling in her legs, which led to dan­ger­ous­ly high blood pres­sure. Doc­tors admit­ted her back into the hos­pi­tal, where they adjust­ed her med­ica­tion. “It was very scary, but after a cou­ple of days there, we changed the meds. And the swelling has gone down and, like, almost gone,” she shared.

Wil­son assured fans that she is “final­ly over this hump, recov­er­ing from my lap-band surgery, lap-band removal.” She admit­ted that recov­ery felt “intense,” but she expressed deep grat­i­tude toward her med­ical team and sup­port­ers. “I am just so, so lucky to have got­ten through this,” she said.

Doc­tors also dis­cov­ered an ulcer and an obstruc­tion caused by food trapped in the lap band. Though the news unset­tled her, Wil­son empha­sized her relief. “It makes me want to barf, but any­way, I’m so grate­ful right now and so lucky,” she explained. Her focus now is on rest­ing and regain­ing strength.

A Dif­fi­cult Year For Carnie Wil­son

This health scare comes dur­ing an already chal­leng­ing year for Wil­son, whose father, Beach Boys co-founder Bri­an Wil­son, died ear­li­er in 2025. She acknowl­edged that stress like­ly con­tributed to her con­di­tion. “It doesn’t sur­prise me with all the stress I’ve had this year,” she said after learn­ing of the ulcer.

Still, Carnie high­light­ed the lessons she has drawn from the expe­ri­ence. “It real­ly put a new per­spec­tive on some health things for me,” she explained.
