On Sep­tem­ber 27, the Carter fam­i­ly cel­e­brat­ed matri­arch Hat­tie White, Jay‑Z’s grand­moth­er, as she turned 100-years-old dur­ing a par­ty in New York City. Bey­on­cé shared a mon­tage of images from the event on Fri­day, Octo­ber 3, which includ­ed shots of her stun­ning out­fit, as well as the looks worn by her hus­band, by White, by her moth­er Tina Knowles, and by her eight-year-old daugh­ter, Rumi Carter.

The quick glimpse of Rumi offered a rare look at her fun par­ty style. Rumi wore a white dress with a full tulle skirt, fea­tur­ing a trans­par­ent back with a key­hole cutout and flower details sewn onto the bodice. She paired the dress with sil­ver flats with an ankle strap. Rumi was wear­ing her hair in long braids and cut­ting a rug on the dance floor

Rumi’s mom was wear­ing a black busti­er gown with a corset bodice and long black skirt. Bey­on­cé had her blonde hair teased up in a glam­orous Hol­ly­wood style and acces­sorized with a fur­ry white boa and a pair of black opera gloves stud­ded in white rhine­stones. Jay‑Z was by her side in a clas­sic black tux and bowtie.

The Cow­boy Carter singer also shared a sweet pho­to of Knowles, who was wear­ing a red suit, lean­ing over White as they shared an inti­mate con­ver­sa­tion. The guest of hon­or was in a blue two-piece dec­o­rat­ed with sil­ver sequins. The par­ty guests were also ser­e­nad­ed that night by musi­cal icon Ste­vie Won­der.

White has been an inspi­ra­tion to her fam­i­ly, and her words were even fea­tured in the out­ro of Beyoncé’s 2016 song “Free­dom.” She can be heard shar­ing, “I had my ups and downs, but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up.”
