$2.5 Million Raised on GoFundMe for Hero Ahmed al Ahmed Who Disarmed Gunman

More than $2.5 mil­lion has been raised through a GoFundMe cam­paign in hon­or of Ahmed al Ahmed, the man wide­ly praised for brave­ly dis­arm­ing a gun­man dur­ing a vio­lent inci­dent that could have result­ed in far greater loss of life.

The fundrais­er, which has attract­ed tens of thou­sands of donors from around the world, was cre­at­ed to sup­port Ahmed al Ahmed and his fam­i­ly fol­low­ing the inci­dent. Sup­port­ers have described him as a hero who act­ed self­less­ly and with­out hes­i­ta­tion to pro­tect oth­ers.

Accord­ing to the cam­paign descrip­tion, Ahmed inter­vened dur­ing a moment of chaos, man­ag­ing to stop the attack­er and pre­vent fur­ther harm. His actions have since sparked wide­spread admi­ra­tion on social media, where many have high­light­ed his courage and quick think­ing.

Mes­sages accom­pa­ny­ing dona­tions praise Ahmed for his brav­ery and call his actions a reminder of the pow­er of indi­vid­ual courage in moments of cri­sis. “He didn’t think about himself—he thought about sav­ing lives,” one donor wrote.
