Dolly Parton criticized for looking “cheap” and “ugly” – but she’s hit back

Dolly Parton has lived a long and mega-successful life in the spotlight.

The iconic singer’s talents have transcended decades and styles; she’s been a fixture at the top of the entertainment industry since almost any of us can remember.

Even someone as famous as she is has to deal with her critics. Recently, some people have been saying negative things about her appearance, even though she’s almost eighty years old.

Dolly Parton, who is 77, is well-known in country music and among celebrities.

The singer from Tennessee has truly become a legend. Even after performing and singing for most of her life, she still enjoys entertaining her many fans.

Dolly Parton, with Pollystar, explained that she would not be touring anymore. She explained:

I’ll have some special performances every now and then. I might do a long weekend of shows or a few at a festival, but I’m not planning to go on a big tour anymore.

Dolly Parton, who rose to the peak of the entertainment world after her tough childhood in the Appalachian Mountains, will definitely be missed on stage.

Even though a lot of people love her, some still have negative things to say about her appearance.

Her looks have been a topic of discussion since she began her career. Dolly has shared that early on, some folks suggested she should change her famous style if she wanted to be taken seriously in her career.

She said, “Most of the advice I got was to simplify my hair and clothes.”

“Not to look so cheap, nobody was ever going to take me seriously, they would say.”

Over time, the mean comments about Dolly haven’t disappeared. In fact, some people seem even more convinced that it’s okay to call her names that are really unfair.

One person on Twitter said, “Dolly Parton is one ugly lady,” while another commented, “Dolly Parton is so ugly, but she has nice breasts.”

Despite all the harsh words and negativity from people online, Dolly stays positive and strong. She feels great about her body and appearance and isn’t going to change for anyone.

“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap,” she once famously said.

The country star has shared before that her husband loves her just the way she is.

“He doesn’t mind if I gain weight,” Parton said.

“He’s crazy enough to believe I’m the most beautiful and sexiest woman out there.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Dolly remains hungry for success and fresh challenges. As per Rolling Stone, she’s ready to now embrace her 2022 entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and wants to honor it by way of delivering an album that some might consider to be outside of her wheelhouse.

Fans were delighted last year when it became apparent that Dolly Parton was in consideration for a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after her stellar career.

Yet, if sources are to be believed, the superstar herself was initially reluctant to be in the conversation for the honor. The Jolene singer was said to be of the opinion that since her career consists mostly of country music, others were perhaps more suited to finding their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In the end, the people made their voices heard, and the voters agreed that Dolly truly deserved to be there. In November, she was welcomed into the Hall of Fame, and right away, she started working hard to prove that her selection was the right choice.
