Elon Musk and Prince Andrew Named in Newly Released Epstein Files

Billionaire Elon Musk and Prince Andrew have been named in newly released files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The documents, handed over to the House Oversight Committee by the Epstein Estate, include flight logs, financial records, phone messages, and Epstein’s daily schedule.

According to the records, Musk was noted in a December 2014 entry regarding a planned visit to Epstein’s private island. Musk has previously stated that he declined Epstein’s invitation.

Prince Andrew is listed on a flight manifest from May 2000 traveling from Teterboro, New Jersey, to West Palm Beach, Florida, alongside Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 for conspiring with Epstein to traffic girls for sex. A redacted ledger also references payments for massages to “Andrew” in February and May 2000, though it is unclear if this refers to Prince Andrew. Palace records show that he was traveling in the U.S. during that period for official engagements. Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Other prominent figures mentioned in the documents include Peter Thiel, Steve Bannon, and Bill Gates. The files note planned meetings, including a November 2017 lunch with Thiel, a February 2019 breakfast with Bannon, and a December 2014 breakfast with Gates. Gates has previously acknowledged that meeting Epstein was a “mistake.”

The House Oversight Committee stressed that the inclusion of names in these records does not indicate knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities.

Epstein, who had previously pleaded guilty in 2008 to charges related to the sexual abuse of a minor, died by suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Sara Guerrero, spokeswoman for the Democratic members of the committee, urged further transparency from the Justice Department:

“Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”

Republican members criticized the release as politically motivated but indicated they would provide the full set of documents soon.
