Charles Tillman Resigns from FBI Over Disagreements with Trump Administration’s Immigration Policies

Former NFL legend Charles Tillman — known to fans as the Chicago Bears’ “Peanut” — has stepped down from his post at the FBI, reportedly over disagreements with President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and internal tensions within the agency.

Tillman, who earned national respect for his discipline on the field and service afterward in law enforcement, cited concerns about how immigration enforcement was being prioritized. Still, supporters of President Trump argue that the administration’s approach simply restores the rule of law after years of lax border control, focusing on protecting American citizens and strengthening national security.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, since January 2025, more than two million undocumented immigrants have left the United States — a result that administration officials see as evidence of decisive leadership and effective enforcement.

While some former colleagues expressed surprise at Tillman’s resignation, many conservatives view it as part of a larger national conversation about duty, accountability, and the balance between compassion and the law. Tillman’s legacy — as both an athlete and a federal agent — remains respected, even as his departure underscores the deeply personal nature of public service in politically charged times.
