Over the past sev­er­al weeks, social media has been flood­ed with viral posts claim­ing that the Nor­we­gian Nobel Com­mit­tee had “removed” Trump from the nom­i­nee list or even “banned” him from future Nobel awards. But accord­ing to offi­cial state­ments — and ver­i­fied fact-check­ing — none of it is true.

🇺🇸 Trump’s Global Support and the Buzz Around His Nomination

Pres­i­dent Trump, who has received strong back­ing from lead­ers includ­ing Israeli Prime Min­is­ter Ben­jamin Netanyahu and the gov­ern­ments of Pak­istan, Azer­bai­jan, Rwan­da, and Cam­bo­dia, has once again become a top con­tender for the Peace Prize. His sup­port­ers argue that his push for new Mid­dle East peace ini­tia­tives and his ongo­ing efforts to pro­mote inter­na­tion­al sta­bil­i­ty make him a deserv­ing can­di­date.

Even Trump him­self weighed in last month, telling a room of top U.S. gen­er­als that it would be “a big insult to our coun­try” if he didn’t win.

How­ev­er, despite his glob­al sup­port, online rumors began cir­cu­lat­ing, sug­gest­ing that Trump had been “dis­qual­i­fied” or “removed” from con­sid­er­a­tion.

💻 The Viral Hoaxes That Fooled Millions

One viral post on X (for­mer­ly Twit­ter) came from a user call­ing her­self BrooklynDad_Defiant!, claim­ing the Nobel Com­mit­tee had “qui­et­ly removed Trump’s name from the list.” The post alleged that the deci­sion was made due to “vio­la­tions of inter­na­tion­al norms” and “ongo­ing crim­i­nal pro­ceed­ings.”

That claim alone racked up over 247,000 views — but it was com­plete­ly fab­ri­cat­ed.

X users quick­ly attached a con­text note, clar­i­fy­ing that the Nobel nom­i­na­tions list is pri­vate for 50 years, mean­ing there’s no pub­lic record of who is or isn’t on it.

Anoth­er fake post came from an account called Don­ald­Frump, which shared a pho­ny Asso­ci­at­ed Press press release claim­ing Trump had been “per­ma­nent­ly dis­qual­i­fied” from all future Nobel awards — cit­ing his sup­posed “renam­ing” of the Depart­ment of Defense to the “Depart­ment of War.”

The AP con­firmed this post was fake and not from their news­room. The account has since been delet­ed.

🕵️‍♂️ The Real Facts — Straight from the Source

When Newsweek reached out to the Nor­we­gian Nobel Insti­tute, the organization’s head of com­mu­ni­ca­tions flat­ly denied the rumors:

“The Nor­we­gian Nobel Com­mit­tee doesn’t make this kind of state­ment and has nev­er dis­qual­i­fied a pro­posed can­di­date. There is no pub­lic list of nom­i­nees. The names of nom­i­na­tors and nom­i­nees are con­fi­den­tial for 50 years.”

In oth­er words: there is no evi­dence what­so­ev­er that Trump has been removed or banned.

The dead­line for nom­i­na­tions passed on Jan­u­ary 31, and the com­mit­tee final­ized its list of 338 can­di­dates — includ­ing 244 indi­vid­u­als and 94 orga­ni­za­tions — in late Feb­ru­ary. Who made that list will remain secret until 2075.

⚖️ The Verdict: False

The viral claims that Don­ald Trump has been stripped of his Nobel Peace Prize nom­i­na­tion or barred from future awards are entire­ly false. The Nobel Com­mit­tee has pub­licly denied it, and no legit­i­mate media out­let has report­ed oth­er­wise.
