Fitness Coach, 30, Dies After Extreme Binge-Eating Challenge Meant to Promote His Weight-Loss Program
A Russian fitness influencer’s bid to promote his weight-loss course ended in tragedy after a binge-eating challenge caused his heart to give out.
A Deadly Experiment
Dmitry Nuyanzin, a 30-year-old fitness coach from Orenburg, Russia, had been eating as much as 10,000 calories a day to deliberately gain more than 50 pounds before attempting to shed it all in a dramatic transformation. The challenge was meant to showcase his upcoming fitness program and prove that rapid weight loss could be achieved through his methods.
According to local reports translated from Russian social media, Nuyanzin gained nearly 30 pounds in a single month. His high-calorie diet reportedly consisted of heavy, cholesterol-rich meals including pastries, cake, dumplings drenched in mayonnaise, and late-night burgers and pizza.

“For breakfast, I have a plate of pastries and half a cake. For lunch, 800 grams of dumplings with mayonnaise,” he said in one post. “During the day, I snack on crisps, and for dinner, I have a burger and two small pizzas.”
A Sudden Decline
Friends say the influencer began feeling unwell and canceled his training sessions, planning to see a doctor. Tragically, he died in his sleep from cardiac arrest shortly afterward.
On November 18, just days before his death, Nuyanzin shared an update that his weight had surpassed 230 pounds.
His Vision for Transformation
In his final posts, Nuyanzin announced his “Weight Loss Course”, encouraging followers to join him and offering $100 to anyone who lost 10% of their body weight by New Year’s.

“My weight loss course is starting soon,” he wrote. “You can win cool prizes and, most importantly, build a beautiful body, learn how to eat and have fun! I’m going to be losing weight with my minions, so this will be twice as exciting!”
Shock and Tributes
Tributes quickly poured in across social media. “I’m in total shock. Why does God take the best people?” wrote one follower. Others remembered him as “bright” and “an incredible person who always motivated others.”
The Hidden Danger
Experts warn that extreme weight gain, even in short bursts, puts immense strain on the heart. According to Brown University, “The larger the body, the harder the heart must work to pump and circulate blood. Extra weight also increases resistance, forcing the heart to overwork.”
Nuyanzin’s story serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of pushing the body to its limits — even in the name of fitness.
