GOP lawmaker says Melania Trump deserves Nobel Peace Prize nomination for her role in Russia talks

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Anna Paulina Luna (R‑FL) believes it’s time for Melania Trump to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize

The congresswoman went all in on Fox News on Friday, August 29, telling host Charlie Hurt that both President Donald Trump and the first lady deserve a serious look from the Nobel committee

Anna Paulina Luna gushes about the Trumps

“Look, President Trump just secured a win with some of the largest tax cuts in history,” Anna Paulina Luna declared. “Not to mention, he’s going to be capping prescription prices.”

Trump himself has been coyly chasing a Nobel Peace Prize, even claiming he “ended six wars in six months.” Luna went further, tossing in a questionable brag about Buddhist support

And also, he’s continuing to broker world peace, so much so that literally hundreds of monks have nominated him, including world leaders, for the Nobel Peace Prize,” she insisted

Hurt asked, “Do you think that the Nobel Peace Prize committee people will actually come around? At some point, I guess maybe they need him more than he needs them.”

“Most certainly,” Luna responded. “If the Nobel Peace Prize committee knows what’s good for them, they’d do the right thing and nominate [sic] him. But also, too, I think that Melania Trump might also have a nomination. I think that she’s been very instrumental in discussions with Russia. And also, too, I think that she’s going to be a key reason why we’re able to broker peace with Ukraine.”

“I love that they could be the first joint couple to earn the Nobel Peace Prize. And then even better would be if they then turned it down,” Hurt quipped

Melania Trump’s letter diplomacy

Melania Trump recently wrote a carefully worded letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin about abducted Ukrainian children. However, it didn’t explicitly mention Ukraine or Ukrainians.

“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few. Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded,” the first lady wrote.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave her credit. “We deeply appreciate her compassion and her letter to Putin. I asked President Trump to pass along a letter of gratitude from Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, to Melania. Her voice matters, and her care gives strength to this cause,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Trump himself has been playing middleman, meeting both Putin and Zelensky this month. Regardless, the war rages on. On Thursday, Russia unleashed drone and missile strikes on Kyiv that reportedly killed at least 23 people.

Trump’s desire to bag the Nobel gold is nothing new. He’s reportedly even cold-called Norwegian politicians to push for a nod. But the actual committee seems to be a major hurdle.

Three of the five members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee have publicly slammed Trump, saying his attacks on the press are “dismantling democracy.”
