Government shutdown latest: Senators working through the weekend; 1,000 flights canceled

As the govยญernยญment shutยญdown reachยญes its 39th day, senยญaยญtors will be workยญing through the weekยญend for the first time since the shutยญdown began, aimยญing to reach a long-awaitยญed resยญoยญluยญtion.

More than 1,000 flights canceled

2:20 p.m. ET โ€” U.S. airยญlines again canยญceled more than 1,000 flights Satยญurยญday, largeยญly due to the govยญernยญment shutยญdown and the Fedยญerยญal Aviยญaยญtion Administrationโ€™s direcยญtive to reduce air trafยญfic.

More than 1,000 flights were also canยญceled Friยญday.

Charยญlotte Douยญglas Interยญnaยญtionยญal Airยญport in North Carยญoliยญna was the most severeยญly impactยญed, with around 120 arrivยญing and departยญing flights canยญceled by midยญday. Airยญports in Atlanta, Chicaยญgo, Dalยญlas, Denยญver, and Orlanยญdo also reportยญed major disยญrupยญtions. Staffing shortยญages in Charยญlotte and Newark furยญther slowed operยญaยญtions.

800 flights canceled Saturday morning
