‘Bosch’ Spin-Off Soars on Streaming Charts Despite Recent Titus Welliver News

The Bosch uni­verse con­tin­ues to expand — but it might be doing so with­out its cor­ner­stone. Prime Video has offi­cial­ly renewed Bal­lard for a sec­ond sea­son, con­firm­ing that Mag­gie Q will return as Detec­tive Renée Bal­lard in Michael Connelly’s acclaimed crime fran­chise, and fans have flocked back to the series, pro­pelling it into Prime Video’s Top 10. Yet amid the cel­e­bra­tion, one notable absence has fans talk­ing: Titus Welliv­er, the actor behind LAPD icon Har­ry Bosch, wasn’t men­tioned any­where in Prime Video’s announce­ment.

Welliv­er played Har­ry Bosch for near­ly a decade across sev­en sea­sons of Boschand two sea­sons of Bosch: Lega­cy before repris­ing the role in Bal­lard’s first sea­son. His absence from the renew­al state­ment has led many to won­der whether the character’s on-screen jour­ney has final­ly reached its end

Adding fuel to the spec­u­la­tion is Welliver’s new com­mit­ment to MGM+’supcom­ing crime series The West­ies, in which he stars oppo­site J.K. Sim­mons. While no offi­cial con­fir­ma­tion has been giv­en regard­ing Bosch’s future appear­ances, fans are brac­ing for a pos­si­ble farewell

Based on Connelly’s best-sell­ing nov­els, Bal­lard fol­lows Detec­tive Renée Bal­lard, a fierce­ly deter­mined LAPD offi­cer who works the night shift and tack­les cold cas­es while nav­i­gat­ing the pol­i­tics and prej­u­dice with­in the depart­ment. The first sea­son debuted on July 9 and quick­ly became one of Prime Video’s biggest sum­mer hits, earn­ing a rare 100% rat­ing on Rot­ten Toma­toes and top­ping both Nielsen and FlixPatrol’s charts.
