Kevin Spacey to Face More Sexual Assault Claims in London Civil Court

Kevin Spacey to Face Multiple Civil Sexual Assault Claims in London Next Year

LONDON — Kevin Spacey is set to face new legal battles in the United Kingdom, as three men have filed civil lawsuits accusing the Oscar-winning actor of sexual assault during his tenure as artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre. The proceedings, detailed in court documents and confirmed by France 24, BBC News, and Variety, mark another chapter in Spacey’s long-running legal saga — three years after he was cleared of similar criminal charges in the U.K.

New Civil Allegations

At a preliminary hearing held at London’s High Court on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Judge Christina Lambert provisionally scheduled the trial for October 12, 2026. The court will later decide whether the three lawsuits will be heard together in a single trial or as separate cases.
Prosecution lawyers are calling for a combined trial expected to last eight to nine days, while Spacey’s legal team has argued for three shorter hearings of five to six days each.

According to court filings, all three claims “relate to alleged sexual assaults by the defendant (Spacey) of younger men he came into contact with whilst working at the Old Vic Theatre, two as young actors.” The alleged offences occurred between 2004 and 2015, during Spacey’s influential tenure as the theatre’s artistic director.

Two of the claimants were involved in Spacey’s 2023 criminal trial, in which the actor was acquitted of all charges brought by four men. The third claimant, actor Ruari Cannon, was not part of that case but has waived his anonymity and also filed a separate suit against the Old Vic itself. Cannon alleges that Spacey groped him at a 2013 party while he was starring in a play at the theatre.

One of the anonymous claimants previously sued Spacey in 2022, though the case was paused pending the outcome of his criminal trial. He alleges he suffered “psychiatric damage and other financial loss” following an alleged assault in August 2008.
Another claimant asserts that Spacey repeatedly took his hand and placed it on his body while clothed. Details of the third man’s allegations were not disclosed in open court.

Spacey’s Response

Spacey, now 66, did not attend Wednesday’s hearing but has formally denied the accusations. He has filed defenses for two of the three civil suits and is expected to respond to the third in the coming weeks.
The House of Cards and American Beauty star “has always denied any wrongdoing,” according to statements presented to the court. His representatives have not yet publicly commented on the latest developments.

Following the hearing, Spacey’s spokesperson reiterated his previous stance, citing his response to Channel 4’s 2024 docuseries Spacey Unmasked:

“Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”

Career and Legal History

Once one of Hollywood’s most respected talents, Spacey’s career unraveled after multiple sexual misconduct allegations emerged in 2017 during the early #MeToo movement. The two-time Academy Award winner — for The Usual Suspects (1996) and American Beauty (2000) — was removed from major projects and saw his reputation collapse almost overnight.

In 2023, Spacey was acquitted in a London criminal trial involving four men who accused him of sexual assault. The jury found him not guilty on all counts.
Across the Atlantic, in 2022, a New York court also dismissed a $40 million civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp, finding Spacey not liable.

The Road Ahead

Despite his previous legal victories, the upcoming London civil cases will once again bring Spacey’s past into public view. Court documents show that the alleged victims claim to have suffered significant emotional, psychological, and financial harm from their encounters with the actor.

Judge Lambert’s decision sets the stage for what could be a pivotal legal showdown in 2026 — one that may finally determine whether Spacey can move beyond the shadow of these long-running allegations.

For now, the star who once stood at the peak of Hollywood acclaim remains caught in a years-long cycle of accusation, defense, and courtroom reckoning.
