Man missing for about a week in Linda Vista has died, family says

Quang Diep, a 79-year-old at-risk man, went miss­ing Wednes­day in the Lin­da Vista neigh­bor­hood

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 79-year-old man who was report­ed miss­ing last week in the Lin­da Vista neigh­bor­hood of San Diego has died, his fam­i­ly and police con­firmed.

Quang Diep was report­ed miss­ing on Wednes­day, June 18. Fly­ers were post­ed around the com­mu­ni­ty, telling peo­ple to be on the look­out for him and, if spot­ted, to report his where­abouts to police.

On Wednes­day, the San Diego Police Depart­ment told FOX 5/KUSI Diep was found deceased along State Route 163 on Tues­day. No oth­er details about his death were imme­di­ate­ly avail­able.

His son, Kane Diep, made a post on social media, con­firm­ing that his father had passed away.

“Thank you to every­one who’ve helped search for my dad Quang Diep. We’ve received heart­break­ing news that he has passed away,” Kane post­ed in an Insta­gram sto­ry. “We’re deeply grate­ful for the sup­port and care from our com­mu­ni­ties. We want­ed to let you know so you can stop search­ing.”

Accord­ing to the San Diego Police Depart­ment, the elder Diep was last seen walk­ing away from a home on the 7400 block of North Jud­son St. around 6:30 p.m. on Wednes­day, June 18.

He was con­sid­ered at risk due to med­ical con­cerns, police said at the time.
