Marjorie Taylor Greene Shuts Down 2028 Presidential Bid Rumors

(News­Na­tion) — Con­gress­woman Mar­jorie Tay­lor Greene firm­ly denied rumors that she plans to run for pres­i­dent in 2028, call­ing the reports “base­less” and reaf­firm­ing that her only focus remains serv­ing the peo­ple of Georgia’s 14th Con­gres­sion­al Dis­trict.

“The only thing that I’m focused on is being a rep­re­sen­ta­tive for my dis­trict,” Greene told News­Na­tion, adding that she even blocked the reporter who first cir­cu­lat­ed the spec­u­la­tion.

The denial comes after a media out­let claimed Greene had been pri­vate­ly dis­cussing pos­si­ble pres­i­den­tial ambi­tions. She dis­missed the report, com­par­ing it to oth­er false rumors — includ­ing one from com­men­ta­tor Lau­ra Loomer, who alleged Greene planned to announce a guber­na­to­r­i­al cam­paign on The View.

Greene also pushed back against com­ments from Rep. Alexan­dria Oca­sio-Cortez (D‑N.Y.), who sug­gest­ed that Greene was on a “revenge tour” after for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump report­ed­ly dis­cour­aged her from pur­su­ing a Sen­ate bid.

Dur­ing an Insta­gram livestream, Oca­sio-Cortez said, “Mar­jorie Tay­lor Greene want­ed to run for Sen­ate in Geor­gia… and Trump told her no. The White House and Trump Land shut down her per­son­al ambi­tions, and she has been on a revenge tour ever since.”

Greene reject­ed the claims out­right, cit­ing a state­ment she made ear­li­er this year explain­ing her rea­sons for not run­ning for Sen­ate.

“It’s not true,” Greene said, adding, “I see the Sen­ate as basi­cal­ly where all good things go to die.”

The con­gress­woman also defend­ed her recent appear­ance on The View, say­ing her con­stituents val­ued the oppor­tu­ni­ty for open dia­logue across polit­i­cal lines.

“Peo­ple are sick and tired of polit­i­cal dra­ma,” she said. “They are fed up with it, and they’re tired of the tox­ic cul­ture that we have.”

Greene Demands Action on Obamacare Subsidies and Health Care Reform

Greene turned her atten­tion to what she called a grow­ing health care cri­sis, warn­ing that laps­ing Afford­able Care Act sub­si­dies could lead to mas­sive pre­mi­um hikes for work­ing Amer­i­cans.

“Some of my con­stituents are see­ing their pre­mi­ums go from $800 to $3,200 a month,” Greene said. “Where is our health care plan? It’s nonex­is­tent.”

She recount­ed a heat­ed exchange with House Speak­er Mike John­son, say­ing she “yelled” at him dur­ing a GOP con­fer­ence call over the party’s fail­ure to deliv­er on health care reform.

“Democ­rats cre­at­ed this prob­lem years ago, but Repub­li­cans have nev­er fixed it,” Greene said.

Accord­ing to Greene, she con­tin­ues to receive mes­sages from fel­low Repub­li­cans who acknowl­edge the prob­lem pri­vate­ly but refuse to speak up pub­licly.

Calls for Leadership Amid Government Shutdown

Greene also crit­i­cized Speak­er John­son for what she described as failed lead­er­ship dur­ing the ongo­ing gov­ern­ment shut­down, urg­ing Sen­ate Repub­li­cans to use the “nuclear option” to over­ride the fil­i­buster and end the stale­mate.

“The fact that the House has been closed for six weeks now is a com­plete and total, utter fail­ure, and that’s on the Speak­er of the House,” she said, adding that Johnson’s deci­sion to send law­mak­ers home while fed­er­al employ­ees go unpaid was “unac­cept­able.”

She sug­gest­ed that Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump should step in per­son­al­ly to bring John­son and Sen­ate Major­i­ty Leader Chuck Schumer to the table and nego­ti­ate a res­o­lu­tion.

A Message to the GOP: Deliver on America First

Reflect­ing on recent elec­tion results, Greene said the Repub­li­can Party’s under­per­for­mance was a sign that vot­ers are frus­trat­ed by a lack of progress on key promis­es.

“It was a ref­er­en­dum on not deliv­er­ing what Novem­ber 2024 was about,” Greene said, point­ing to unfin­ished “Amer­i­ca First” pri­or­i­ties like low­er­ing costs of liv­ing and reform­ing health care under her “Make Amer­i­ca Healthy Again” vision.

Despite the swirl of spec­u­la­tion, Greene made clear her focus remains on her con­gres­sion­al duties — and on push­ing Repub­li­can lead­er­ship to act on behalf of every­day Amer­i­cans.
