Marjorie Taylor Greene Shuts Down 2028 Presidential Bid Rumors

(NewsยญNaยญtion) โ€” Conยญgressยญwoman Marยญjorie Tayยญlor Greene firmยญly denied rumors that she plans to run for presยญiยญdent in 2028, callยญing the reports โ€œbaseยญlessโ€ and reafยญfirmยญing that her only focus remains servยญing the peoยญple of Georgiaโ€™s 14th Conยญgresยญsionยญal Disยญtrict.

โ€œThe only thing that Iโ€™m focused on is being a repยญreยญsenยญtaยญtive for my disยญtrict,โ€ Greene told NewsยญNaยญtion, adding that she even blocked the reporter who first cirยญcuยญlatยญed the specยญuยญlaยญtion.

The denial comes after a media outยญlet claimed Greene had been priยญvateยญly disยญcussing posยญsiยญble presยญiยญdenยญtial ambiยญtions. She disยญmissed the report, comยญparยญing it to othยญer false rumors โ€” includยญing one from comยญmenยญtaยญtor Lauยญra Loomer, who alleged Greene planned to announce a guberยญnaยญtoยญrยญiยญal camยญpaign on The View.

Greene also pushed back against comยญments from Rep. Alexanยญdria Ocaยญsio-Cortez (Dโ€‘N.Y.), who sugยญgestยญed that Greene was on a โ€œrevenge tourโ€ after forยญmer Presยญiยญdent Donยญald Trump reportยญedยญly disยญcourยญaged her from purยญsuยญing a Senยญate bid.

Durยญing an Instaยญgram livestream, Ocaยญsio-Cortez said, โ€œMarยญjorie Tayยญlor Greene wantยญed to run for Senยญate in Georยญgiaโ€ฆ and Trump told her no. The White House and Trump Land shut down her perยญsonยญal ambiยญtions, and she has been on a revenge tour ever since.โ€

Greene rejectยญed the claims outยญright, citยญing a stateยญment she made earยญliยญer this year explainยญing her reaยญsons for not runยญning for Senยญate.

โ€œItโ€™s not true,โ€ Greene said, adding, โ€œI see the Senยญate as basiยญcalยญly where all good things go to die.โ€

The conยญgressยญwoman also defendยญed her recent appearยญance on The View, sayยญing her conยญstituents valยญued the opporยญtuยญniยญty for open diaยญlogue across politยญiยญcal lines.

โ€œPeoยญple are sick and tired of politยญiยญcal draยญma,โ€ she said. โ€œThey are fed up with it, and theyโ€™re tired of the toxยญic culยญture that we have.โ€

Greene Demands Action on Obamacare Subsidies and Health Care Reform

Greene turned her attenยญtion to what she called a growยญing health care criยญsis, warnยญing that lapsยญing Affordยญable Care Act subยญsiยญdies could lead to masยญsive preยญmiยญum hikes for workยญing Amerยญiยญcans.

โ€œSome of my conยญstituents are seeยญing their preยญmiยญums go from $800 to $3,200 a month,โ€ Greene said. โ€œWhere is our health care plan? Itโ€™s nonexยญisยญtent.โ€

She recountยญed a heatยญed exchange with House Speakยญer Mike Johnยญson, sayยญing she โ€œyelledโ€ at him durยญing a GOP conยญferยญence call over the partyโ€™s failยญure to delivยญer on health care reform.

โ€œDemocยญrats creยญatยญed this probยญlem years ago, but Repubยญliยญcans have nevยญer fixed it,โ€ Greene said.

Accordยญing to Greene, she conยญtinยญues to receive mesยญsages from felยญlow Repubยญliยญcans who acknowlยญedge the probยญlem priยญvateยญly but refuse to speak up pubยญlicly.

Calls for Leadership Amid Government Shutdown

Greene also critยญiยญcized Speakยญer Johnยญson for what she described as failed leadยญerยญship durยญing the ongoยญing govยญernยญment shutยญdown, urgยญing Senยญate Repubยญliยญcans to use the โ€œnuclear optionโ€ to overยญride the filยญiยญbuster and end the staleยญmate.

โ€œThe fact that the House has been closed for six weeks now is a comยญplete and total, utter failยญure, and thatโ€™s on the Speakยญer of the House,โ€ she said, adding that Johnsonโ€™s deciยญsion to send lawยญmakยญers home while fedยญerยญal employยญees go unpaid was โ€œunacยญceptยญable.โ€

She sugยญgestยญed that Presยญiยญdent Donยญald Trump should step in perยญsonยญalยญly to bring Johnยญson and Senยญate Majorยญiยญty Leader Chuck Schumer to the table and negoยญtiยญate a resยญoยญluยญtion.

A Message to the GOP: Deliver on America First

Reflectยญing on recent elecยญtion results, Greene said the Repubยญliยญcan Partyโ€™s underยญperยญforยญmance was a sign that votยญers are frusยญtratยญed by a lack of progress on key promisยญes.

โ€œIt was a refยญerยญenยญdum on not delivยญerยญing what Novemยญber 2024 was about,โ€ Greene said, pointยญing to unfinยญished โ€œAmerยญiยญca Firstโ€ priยญorยญiยญties like lowยญerยญing costs of livยญing and reformยญing health care under her โ€œMake Amerยญiยญca Healthy Againโ€ vision.

Despite the swirl of specยญuยญlaยญtion, Greene made clear her focus remains on her conยญgresยญsionยญal duties โ€” and on pushยญing Repubยญliยญcan leadยญerยญship to act on behalf of everyยญday Amerยญiยญcans.
