RHOC’s Meghan King Loses Custody of Her 3 Children After CPS Investigation

Meghan King, for­mer star of The Real House­wives of Orange Coun­ty, has report­ed­ly lost cus­tody of her three chil­dren fol­low­ing a Child Pro­tec­tive Ser­vices inves­ti­ga­tion, accord­ing to mul­ti­ple out­lets.

King, 41, shares daugh­ter Aspen, 8, and 7‑year-old twin sons Hart and Hayes with ex-hus­band and for­mer MLB play­er Jim Edmonds. Us Week­ly was first to report that Edmonds has been grant­ed sole phys­i­cal cus­tody, while King now has super­vised vis­i­ta­tion. The deci­sion is tem­po­rary pend­ing a court hear­ing sched­uled for ear­ly Decem­ber.

CPS Called After School Employee Raises Concern

Accord­ing to TMZ, the case began when a school employ­ee con­tact­ed Child Pro­tec­tive Ser­vices about King. That report trig­gered an inves­ti­ga­tion that ulti­mate­ly led to the cus­tody change with­in the last few months. The spe­cif­ic alle­ga­tions have not been made pub­lic.

PEOPLE mag­a­zine notes it has not inde­pen­dent­ly con­firmed the reports. Edmonds’ rep­re­sen­ta­tives declined to com­ment, and King has not respond­ed to requests.

A History of Turbulence Between King and Edmonds

King and Edmonds divorced in 2021 after a con­tentious sep­a­ra­tion that includ­ed alle­ga­tions of infi­deli­ty, argu­ments over par­ent­ing, and sev­er­al pub­lic dis­putes involv­ing Edmonds’ now-wife, Kort­nie O’Connor (now Kort­nie Edmonds).

Just weeks ago, new fric­tion sur­faced when Us Week­ly obtained police body­cam footage of a May inci­dent at Edmonds’ Mis­souri home. In the video, King tells offi­cers Edmonds has been “emo­tion­al­ly abu­sive,” while Kort­nie accus­es King of enter­ing the couple’s home with­out per­mis­sion and “caus­ing a dis­tur­bance.”

Police con­firmed King had been at the house mul­ti­ple times that day. She told offi­cers she was only attempt­ing to drop off cloth­ing for her daugh­ter. No arrests were made, though Kort­nie ini­tial­ly indi­cat­ed she intend­ed to press charges for harass­ment before lat­er chang­ing course.

Statement From Edmonds’ Representative

A rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Edmonds rebutted King’s claims at the time, telling PEOPLE:
“As usu­al, Meghan is telling tales. Her and Jim bare­ly com­mu­ni­cate… Jim is an active and present father to all his chil­dren.”

The rep added that Edmonds has “always been will­ing to co-par­ent in a respect­ful and pro­duc­tive way,” and expressed con­cern that the con­flict con­tin­ues to affect the chil­dren most.

Looking Ahead

A judge will revis­it the cus­tody arrange­ment in ear­ly Decem­ber, at which point the tem­po­rary order could be lift­ed, mod­i­fied, or made per­ma­nent depend­ing on the find­ings of the CPS inves­ti­ga­tion and any addi­tion­al tes­ti­mo­ny.

For now, Edmonds retains sole phys­i­cal cus­tody of all three chil­dren, while King’s par­ent­ing time remains super­vised — mark­ing one of the most sig­nif­i­cant devel­op­ments in the pair’s long and often pub­lic post-divorce bat­tle.
