Sydney Shooting Under Investigation as Police Name Naveed Akram as Suspect


Aus­tralian police are inves­ti­gat­ing a seri­ous vio­lent inci­dent in Syd­ney after a shoot­ing left sev­er­al peo­ple dead and oth­ers injured. Author­i­ties have iden­ti­fied Naveed Akram as a sus­pect in the attack, which occurred dur­ing a pub­lic gath­er­ing. One attack­er was shot by police at the scene, while anoth­er sus­pect was tak­en into cus­tody after being injured.
Images cir­cu­lat­ing online show a man believed to be con­nect­ed to the inci­dent, as inves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue. Police say there is no ongo­ing threat to the pub­lic and that counter-ter­ror­ism units are assist­ing with the case.
