The most haunted places in all of America
The UnitÂed States is an enorÂmous counÂtry with a deep and lengthy hisÂtoÂry that goes back cenÂturies and spans entire eras. WithÂin its borÂders lie countÂless dark secrets and hauntÂing reminders of a trouÂbled past that surÂpass those found anyÂwhere else in the world.
Far from being an entireÂly peaceÂful, perÂsonÂable land, the hisÂtoÂry of AmerÂiÂca is instead also full of wars, murÂderÂers, unnervÂingÂly empÂty counÂtry roads, and unthinkÂable encounÂters
Brace yourÂself for a jourÂney through the most hauntÂed places in the counÂtry, where ghostÂly figÂures of the past still linger, like a thin veil sepÂaÂratÂing our world from theirs. From abanÂdoned insane asyÂlums to hisÂtoric hotels, misty forests to even an abanÂdoned lightÂhouse, these sites are shroudÂed in mysÂtery and bear host to claims of the superÂnatÂurÂal.
Even if you label yourÂself a skepÂtic and don’t believe in ghosts or the superÂnatÂurÂal, the hauntÂing stoÂries of these locaÂtions and their inexÂplicÂaÂble pheÂnomÂeÂna will sureÂly send a chill down your spine.
1. Eastern State Penitentiary
NesÂtled in the heart of PhiladelÂphia, the EastÂern State PenÂiÂtenÂtiary is a hauntÂing relÂic of the past. Built in 1829, this once forÂmiÂdaÂble prison housed some of America’s most notoÂriÂous crimÂiÂnals, includÂing Al Capone and Willie SutÂton.
HowÂevÂer, behind its imposÂing facade lies a dark hisÂtoÂry. The penitentiary’s sysÂtem of soliÂtary conÂfineÂment and strict disÂciÂpline drove many inmates to the brink of insanÂiÂty

The yells and pleas that once engulfed the cell blocks are now replaced by the hushed whisÂpers of tourists and visÂiÂtors that flock there each year.
Many visÂiÂtors to EastÂern State PenÂiÂtenÂtiary report chillÂing encounÂters while inside these walls. Some report hearÂing disÂemÂbodÂied voicÂes echoÂing through the corÂriÂdors. OthÂers claim to have seen shadÂowy figÂures lurkÂing in dark corÂners.
The prison’s crumÂbling walls seem to hold the spirÂits of the countÂless inmates who sufÂfered withÂin its conÂfines.
As the sun sets, EastÂern State PenÂiÂtenÂtiary takes on an even more sinÂisÂter atmosÂphere, with flickÂerÂing lights castÂing eerie shadÂows, heightÂenÂing the sense of unease. GhostÂly appariÂtions are said to wanÂder the cell blocks, their presÂence leavÂing a chill in the air.
The Whaley House
The WhaÂley House was built in 1857 in San Diego, CalÂiÂforÂnia. It is not only an archiÂtecÂturÂal gem but also a hotbed of paraÂnorÂmal activÂiÂty. This hisÂtoric house has witÂnessed a myrÂiÂad of events, both joyÂous and tragÂic, givÂing it its hauntÂed repÂuÂtaÂtion today.

Then, in the earÂly 1900s, some WhaÂley memÂbers moved back into the resÂiÂdence after it was restored. But more of them would die in it, includÂing Anna, FranÂcis, George, and Corinne LilÂlian WhaÂley.
A range of paraÂnorÂmal encounÂters have since been reportÂed at the house. ExamÂples include hearÂing disÂemÂbodÂied footÂsteps and witÂnessÂing full-bodÂied appariÂtions. Some claim to have encounÂtered the spirÂits of the WhaÂley famÂiÂly themÂselves. PeoÂple have seen their shadÂowy figÂures driftÂing through the rooms.
The Amityville Horror House
Few locaÂtions in AmerÂiÂca are as infaÂmous as the AmiÂtyville HorÂror House in AmiÂtyville, New York. This subÂurÂban home was forÂevÂer changed in 1974 when the DeFeo famÂiÂly was bruÂtalÂly murÂdered by their eldest son, Ronald DeFeo Jr.
The AmiÂtyville HorÂror House has since become a symÂbol of paraÂnorÂmal terÂror. VisÂiÂtors report strange voicÂes, unexÂplained pheÂnomÂeÂna, and a sense of malevÂoÂlence that perÂmeÂates its very founÂdaÂtion

It served as the inspiÂraÂtion for the famous book of the same name. This also then became the basis for a string of sucÂcessÂful films.
The AmiÂtyville HorÂror House has sparked countÂless debates and invesÂtiÂgaÂtions. It still capÂtiÂvates the imagÂiÂnaÂtions of paraÂnorÂmal enthuÂsiÂasts and skepÂtics alike. The mere menÂtion of its name evokes a sense of unease and fasÂciÂnaÂtion.
While some disÂmiss the events as elabÂoÂrate hoaxÂes or the prodÂuct of overÂacÂtive imagÂiÂnaÂtions, othÂers mainÂtain that the house is hauntÂed by the six memÂbers of the DeFeo famÂiÂly. Whether the tales surÂroundÂing the AmiÂtyville HorÂror House are truth or ficÂtion, there is no denyÂing the impact they’ve had on popÂuÂlar culÂture and the allure of the superÂnatÂurÂal.
The Villisca Axe-Murder House
The peaceÂful town of VilÂlisÂca, Iowa, hides a house stained with a grueÂsome tragedy. In 1912, the Moore famÂiÂly, along with two young overnight guests, were bruÂtalÂly murÂdered with an axe while they slept.
The VilÂlisÂca Axe-MurÂder House, now a museÂum, stands frozen in time. The eerie atmosÂphere of that fateÂful night has been preÂserved.

Moon River Brewing
The myrÂiÂad of hauntÂed locaÂtions across AmerÂiÂca spans prisÂons, asyÂlums, and forests. SurÂprisÂingÂly, restauÂrants as well.
LocatÂed in SavanÂnah, Georgia’s hisÂtoric downÂtown disÂtrict, Moon RivÂer BrewÂing is notoÂriÂous for being both a beauÂtiÂful and hauntÂed estabÂlishÂment. It is housed withÂin a buildÂing that dates back to the 19th cenÂtuÂry.
This brewÂery has gained a repÂuÂtaÂtion, like the aforeÂmenÂtioned places, as one of the most hauntÂed sites in AmerÂiÂca. The old-world charm of its archiÂtecÂture is comÂpleÂmentÂed by the linÂgerÂing presÂence of paraÂnorÂmal entiÂties that seem to inhabÂit its halls.

Patrons and staff have long reportÂed a wide range of such expeÂriÂences. They expeÂriÂence the feelÂing of being watched, as well as encounÂters with appariÂtions and unexÂplained noisÂes. BotÂtles have been known to fly off shelves and shatÂter withÂout any visÂiÂble cause, leavÂing behind an air of mysÂtery and the superÂnatÂurÂal
Hotel Monte Vista
In the town of Flagstaff, AriÂzona, there is a hotel named Hotel Monte Vista. At first glance, it exudes plenÂty of charm.
Since its first openÂing in 1927, the hotel has played host to countÂless famous guests. CelebriÂties and notoÂriÂous outÂlaws both have roamed the halls.
AlongÂside its glamÂorous repÂuÂtaÂtion, Hotel Monte Vista also has a hisÂtoÂry of being a hotspot of paraÂnorÂmal activÂiÂty. As guests arrive, they are transÂportÂed to a bygone era. But it doesn’t take long for them to realÂize that they may not be alone

Reports of ghostÂly encounÂters abound. VisÂiÂtors claimed to see appariÂtions wanÂderÂing the hallÂways. Some feel mysÂteÂriÂous touchÂes or hear unexÂplained whisÂpers in their rooms.
